Error Message
If a user attempts to log in too many times with the wrong password, they will see this series of on-screen warnings:
Each time the user attempts to log in with invalid
credentials, they will see a warning like this. After 5 incorrect login attempts, a user's account will be locked.
After 5 incorrect login attempts, the user's account will be blocked from additional attempts for 1 hour.
Self-Resolution
Users cannot take any action to quickly un-block their own account: the best action is for the user to proactively reset their password before their account is blocked.
If the account is already blocked, the user will be able to attempt to log in again after the 1-hour timeframe has passed. Otherwise, an Admin User that can access the student's account can reset the user's account immediately (see below).
Admin User Resolution: Reset Password
If you have permission to Edit Admin/ Student accounts, you can reset the user's password manually: when you do this, it will act like a 'reset' on the user's account and clear out any account blocks (from too many incorrect login attempts) or temporary passwords previously generated.
Follow these steps to manually reset a user's password:
1. Login to EdReady and click Manage Account from your dashboard
2. The Groups tab will open by default. Depending on the type of user, click on the Students or Admins tab at the top of the page
3. Find the user you want to update in the table (it may be helpful to use the Filter/ Sort capabilities.
4. Click the Edit button () in the user's row
5. Click the Change Password button and the on-screen display will update.
6. Enter the temporary password this user will use in the Password and Confirm Password textboxes.
7. Click the Save button
You must manually share the chosen password with the user: they WILL NOT be automatically notified as to what their new password is. When they next login, they will need to replace the password you provide with their own secure password.
