You are not required to use the integrated essay functionality in EdReady if you have an offline grading protocol that you prefer. In that case, you can manually edit essay grade values.
However, manually grading the essay immediately blocks the student from using the essay editor as well as other impacts.
Detailed steps for manual offline grading are HERE.
CAVEAT: The Impact of Manual Grading
If you choose to manually change the value of a student's essay grade, the following impacts will occur:
- The student is immediately and permanently blocked from editing their essay in the EdReady platform.
- A grade of PASS will cause a certificate to be issued immediately if the student has met the Study Path requirements for English (a score of 90 on Stage 1 and Stage 2).
|
IMPORTANT: DO NOT manually change the essay status if you want the student to edit their essay in EdReady. Once you manually grade a student's essay, they can no longer access the essay writing platform within EdReady to make edits. They cannot see the essay grade in EdReady. They also cannot access past versions of the essay to see comments. All essay interactions for the student will be offline from this point forward. You must communicate with the student directly about their essay grade. |
- Change only the grade VALUE as detailed HERE.
- All students begin with an Essay Grade category and a value (status) of "Not Started".
- Do not delete the Essay Grade category from student accounts, regardless of your grading protocol.
- If you are committed to offline grading, you can delete the existing grade value and add a new value to the Essay Grade category.
- Only add Pass or Incomplete. Other status options are for system use only.
- The essay grade value you enter here WILL block the student from further editing on the platform.
- See How To Manually Grade Offline Essays for detailed instructions.
