User Warning
Users can reset their own password (instructions here), but they can only request a temporary password once every 24 hours. If a user attempts to request another temporary password within the 24-hour timeframe, they will see an on-screen error message like this:
Your password reset email has already been sent. You cannot request another password until 24 hours after the initial request. |
Self-Resolution
If the user can access the message sent to their email or phone number, they can log in with the temporary password received: they will immediately be forced to change their password. More details about the password reset process can be found here.
Admin User Resolution: Reset Password
If you have permission to Edit Admin/ Student accounts, you can reset the user's password manually: when you do this, it will act like a 'reset' on the user's account and clear out any account blocks (from too many incorrect login attempts) or temporary passwords previously generated.
Follow these steps to manually reset a user's password:
1. Login to EdReady and click Manage Account from your dashboard
2. The Groups tab will open by default. Depending on the type of user, click on the Students or Admins tab at the top of the page | |
3. Find the user you want to update in the table (it may be helpful to use the Filter/ Sort capabilities. 4. Click the Edit button () in the user's row |
5. Click the Change Password button and the on-screen display will update. 6. Enter the temporary password this user will use in the Password and Confirm Password textboxes. 7. Click the Save button
You must manually share the chosen password with the user: they WILL NOT be automatically notified as to what their new password is. When they next login, they will need to replace the password you provide with their own secure password.
