|
The credentials you entered are invalid. You have # attempts left If you have no more attempts available, your account will be locked out for up to one hour. |
IMPORTANT: after 5 incorrect login attempts, the user's account will be blocked. More information available here.
Self-Resolution: Reset Password
If the user cannot remember their password, they can use the Forgot Password functionality available on the Sign In page. An message will be sent to their email address or phone number and they will be able to select a new password.
Encourage your users to do this BEFORE they have exhausted all 5 login attempts and their account has been locked. You can find instructions on resetting your password in this Help Center for Students and Instructors/ Staff: we encourage you to share these instructions with your users.
If the user has already requested a new password, they will not be able to receive a new temporary password for 24 hours (more information here). If they cannot access that message or have already blocked their account, the Admin Resolution below will reset their account and let them log in again.
Admin Resolution: Reset Password
If you have permission to Edit Admin/ Student accounts, you can reset the user's password manually: when you do this, it will act like a 'reset' on the user's account and clear out any account blocks (from too many incorrect login attempts) or temporary passwords previously generated.
Follow these steps to manually reset a user's password:
